Tynan's VW

Logo Design "Tynan’s Express Store"

Logos are always fun and challenging to develop. As the first reference to a brand I tend to think of them in terms of simplicity and instant recognizability. In the case of Tynan’s Express Store the route was a bit roundabout. Tynan’s is a local car dealership, they were expanding their website to include online car sales. Originally the direction was clean and clear and needed to adhere to VW branding standards. I used the flat blue of VW’s in conjunction with the existing tynan's logo. I played with different ways to incorporate a vehicle silhouette.

Ultimately the first round was rejected on the basis of the client “knows it when he sees it”. Sadly the second round was also rejected ont he same note. It was at this point that the Creative lead got examples of competitors logos. We put together a mood board and discussed in detail with the client what they liked and didnt. Turns out we didn't need to adhere to VW branding and the client was looking for a logo with dimension.

On the Third round the client was much more satisfied. Unfortunately none of my logos were ultimately chosen by they client. But they were challenging. Especially when they referenced the headlights on the ID4, so I spent a large amount of time trying to incorporate both the headlights and the vehicle in the logo. This logo type was definitely out of my comfort zone personally and I think ultimately I will revisit this later to see if I can improve upon my designs.
